About Me
I have been tutoring independently and in schools for over twenty years. From 1996-2000 I was the area director for an agency specialising in developing music in schools, including providing support and education for primary teachers.
I teach from home and am based in the Salendine Nook area of Huddersfield. The house is very close to both junctions 23 and 24 of the M62.
I am now offering lessons online to help ease the current social distancing guidelines.
For those interested in studying the piano, I teach all ages and abilities. Lessons are always structured to suit you. All piano tuition is carried out on a Bluthner grand piano and students also have access to a Korg digital piano and several other keyboards should they so wish. Theory tuition is also included to help you make the most of your lessons. Separate theory lessons are also an option for those that require them. I also prepare students for exams if they wish. I offer several options but normally use the well established ABRSM syllabus.
For those that are looking for a drum tutor, I teach all ages, abilities and styles of drumming. Lessons are structured to provide you with all the skills you need to play, with a focus on playing the music you want to play and making the process as enjoyable as possible. Drum students learn on the latest Roland TD 15KV drum kit to ensure you get the best possible start. Exams can form part of your studies if you so wish and I use the excellent Rockschool syllabus for drummers.
I also currently play in two function bands, one as the drummer, one as the piano/keyboard player. I have performed at an eclectic mix of venues including the Birmingham Symphony Hall for Yamaha and the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds. Other major companies have included Holiday Inn, Ramada, Hilton Hotels, Le Meridien, Centre Parcs and numerous private clients for weddings and events.
